A Summer Wedding at The Mill at Manor Falls | Sydney + Nicholas | 8-14-2021
One last touch. I added Addy Grace’s little shoes to the bottom right corner to make the flat lay of detail items perfect. I don’t normally add the flower girl’s shoes to the overall flat lay design on wedding days but this one was different. This little girl, just like the final touch to the flat lay design, was an important piece in the puzzle that would fit this little family together today.
Happy with the design I had just created, I nodded my approval and reached out reflexively with my right hand for my camera. Feeling the rubber with my fingertips, my grip closed around the handle and I lifted it as I hobbled to my feet, ready to capture this masterpiece. I couldn’t help but wonder, as I do at every wedding, why I have’t bought a cushion to kneel on for flat lays yet.
As I hovered over my masterpiece framing the shot perfectly, I heard the bride’s mom Lori to my right talking about something that had to do with Addy. I lowered my camera and asked if they knew when the sweet little girl would arrive.
Just as I asked the question, I looked up and, out of the window where I had a perfect view of the parking lot, I saw her. Her blonde hair curling just past her shoulders. I couldn’t help but think that she would be the perfect actress for the role of Goldie Locks. She stood waiting for Nick, her soon to be step-dad, to gather the last of the Dunkin Donuts from the car. He stood up, balance the precarious load on one hand and without even thinking, picked a flower for Addy and gave it to her with a huge grin and proceeded to escort her down the many steps through the wild flowers at The Mill at Manor Falls.
Nick is the missing piece of the puzzle for Sydney and Addy. Both girls adore him but it’s Nick that would say he’s the grateful one for them. When either one of the girls walks into the room, he lights up like a Christmas tree. It’s adorable.
Sydney and Nick were one of the lucky couples that planned with a streak of luck to not have any Covid interruptions for their wedding. Booking me almost 2 years out they’ve held their breath as they watched all the reschedules last year and now my health concerns this year. It was meant to be! The entire day went off without a hitch and these beautiful people can now call themselves an official family. I couldn’t be happier for them.
Sydney and Nick, I’m so honored to be there with you as you made this beautiful relationship of yours official. Syd, it truly has been an honor to watch you become a mom, find your way, find Nick and stand with you as you became man and wife. I’m so happy for you. Nick, I hope you realize just how lucky you are! This girl is a gem of confidence and fun that is hard to find. I hope you guys love this sample of photos from your gorgeous wedding day. And, because I know how hard it is to wait, there will be a surprise in your inbox later tonight so don’t forget to check!
