Summer at The Booking House: A wedding to remember | Erin + Adam | 8-28-2021
BOTH the father of the bride AND father of the groom walked into The Booking House on Saturday morning clutching a DSLR camera. No pressure or anything…LOL. I knew Adam’s dad owned a photography business too but it honestly slipped my mind throughout the morning as I went through my normal preparations, took venue shots and touched base with the venue coordinator.
When I introduced myself he immediately asked what I shoot with. “I’m a Nikon girl…I have the D750s.” He chuckled in a good-natured way, gave a knowing nod and said, “I have the 810” (a step up from my cameras even…or he could have said 850…even better). Bested by dad, I had to give it to him though. Even with his camera at an arms reach, he let me do my job and enjoyed the day. I’m sure it was hard but a good photographer and a great dad knows to let the professionals do what they do and enjoy the day.
Erin and Adam, loved by all who know them, had a spectacular day. The rain in the forecast wasn’t even an issue at their mostly indoor venue in Manheim, PA. Issue or not, we were still happy to get out in the breezy, cool August afternoon air for some husband and wife photos followed by bridal party shenanigans.
If you’ve ever worked with me (or just know me in general), I’m an “out loud” person with a big personality. Even though it’s not necessarily part of my natural personality, I go to great lengths to get the genuine reactions from my subjects and today was no different. As I rallied the party to cheer on their friends during portrait time, I must have been even more “extra”…even for me. Apparently, enough for the neighbors to call the cops…mid-day on a noise ordinance in town! HA!
When the officer pulled up I thought the guys knew him or something but…nope! He was understanding and wished the couple well. THAT was a first! Sooooo….other than that little story they’ll be telling their grandkids (you’re welcome) the day went perfectly. It truly amazes me to watch a venue flip a room from ceremony to reception. The Booking House did it seamlessly, hand-in-hand with Rettew’s Catering.
The party rocked, spilt between the dance floor and the cigar lounge upstairs. There was something for everyone. A great day from start to finish!
Erin and Adam, you two are so fun. I have enjoyed every moment getting to know you two the past year. I wish you the happiest marriage and the best of luck in all things. I can’t wait to watch your lives and your family grow over the years. I hope you love this little sample of photos from your day as much as I do (and I hope they get the photog-dad approval too!). And, because I know how hard it is to wait, there will be a surprise in your inbox later so don’t forget to check!
