A Lancaster City + Studio Engagement Session | Rebecca + Michael | March 5, 2023
Knowing city traffic had impacted their drive to Lancaster from Maryland, I waited at the ready in the parking lot of Lancaster City’s The Candy Factory to greet Becky and Michael. I didn’t want to waste even a moment of the delicious golden sunlight that we had to work with yesterday.
They swung into the parking space as I tucked my camera into my bag to prepare to hug them. Walking (bouncing, really) towards them, Becky stepped out of the car and swung her long, golden curls over her shoulder with her smile beaming towards the sun. With her fingers in her hair, I caught a glimpse of the shiny new diamond on her left hand glinting back at me — it’s hard to miss. It had been almost 2 years since I saw her last as a bridesmaid in her friend’s wedding. I have to say, engagement looks good on her!
After greeting them both and heading into The Candy Factory’s Studio so they could change into their first outfit, Michael removed his glasses. I couldn’t help myself but to comment on his beautiful eyes. He responded reflexively, “I know.” Then he chuckled to himself and glanced over at his fiancé, “I get that all the time…and winked at her.” I liked him already.
Michael kept us laughing through the shoot. Becky’s beautiful smile never failing to make Michael’s eyes twinkle even brighter when he looked at her. We made their shoot a fun combination of using natural light in the city and ending in the studio. It was really nice to have a space to warm up and for them to change outfits. This may have been the first but I doubt it will be the last time I shoot this combination of locations.
Becky and Michael will be married at The Bond in York, PA this coming February and I cannot wait to meet everyone. If they are anything like these two, we’re going to have an amazing day!!!
Becky and Michael, I had the best time with you yesterday. Thank you for making that drive for your shoot. I 100% think it was worth it. As you said, these photos are forever photos!!! P.S. My husband surprised me with pizza last night when I got home. I giggled a little when I saw the box on the table but was too hungry to wait to enjoy it “Becky and Michael” style and just stood over the table scarfing it down. You know you found a good one when they just know when you need pizza. ;-)
