A Fall Wildlife Preserve Engagement Shoot | Anne + Alex
How am I so lucky to meet these amazing people I get to photograph? Sometimes I just have to sit back in awe of my job and who it brings into my life.
I knew Alex first. She was a groomswoman in another wedding I shot back in September 2018…the groomal party as they called it that day (you’re welcome Darryl if you’re reading this!). I also remember running into her at my gym randomly last year. She is sweet and kind and SO easy going. Her smile lights up the room and she’s always up for anything. Alex would have already been dating Anne back then but I didn’t get the opportunity to meet her until this very day. When they got engaged, Anne contacted me about photographing their Mount Hope Winery wedding set for October 2021. She was kind and to the point. I wasn’t sure what to expect. What I found on this day was that she was just as easy-going as Alex with a twist of silly and a lot of smart. I learned about some of the wildlife in this favorite spot of mine and I was so impressed by her.
There was zero rain in the forecast for this session. The forecast was calling for partly cloudy skies the entire shoot and all the sudden a huge rain cloud started approaching as I walked the location prior to our start time. Luckily, they were super close visiting with parents who live close to the location and were able to hop in their car and start ASAP. We had glowy gorgeousness, Then, the clouds came. Then, the rain came. We shot right through it. No one batted an eye at it and it was amazing. They were willing to step and sit everywhere and adventure into places even I hadn’t shot in before with the water levels lower than normal. Normally, this location can be quite marshy. We ooooed and ahhhed over spiders and mushrooms and all-in-all had a fantastic time in nature together. The sun even came out in full force at the end. It was lovely!
Anne and Alex, thank you for choosing me. Thank you for trusting me with this very special time in your relationship. I cannot wait to be there with you on your BEST DAY EVER next year. Enjoy your engagement and this sample of a few of my favorites from your shoot. And, because I know how hard it is to wait, there are some surprises in your inbox RIGHT NOW so go check if you haven’t already seen! XO - Megan
