A Lititz, PA Engagement | Abbie + Kyle | 7-25-2021
It wasn’t the first time I’ve shot in Lititz, PA. I’ve done everything from baby announcements to branding sessions in the streets of this trendy little town only 20 minutes away from my house. Being so close to home, I tend to shoot there most frequently for people from around here. It funny how a different couple with a different personality and story can change my entire perception of a town that changes very little from year to year.
I arrived early as always and took a leisurely drive through town. No matter how many times you shoot in a location, it’s always a good idea to at least have eyes on the location spots the day of the shoot just in case.
I was planning to start at Lititz Springs Park and walk our way East through town. Then, at the very last moment, I changed my mind. If you’ve worked with me before, you know “I reserve the right to change my mind at any point!” I decided it would be better to start East and work our way West for the lighting as it was a very sunny, hot day.
Abbie and Kyle pulled up behind my little, red Ford Focus. I waved an enthusiastic hello. After intros and hugs we got right to shooting by Linden Hall and my original plan went gleefully out the window as Abbie and Kyle started suggesting special places to them throughout the town. I’ve learned over the years to let go of (some) of my control over the situation and light and just go with it. And, I’m glad I did.
We found secret little spots with not only significance to them as a couple but also with amazing light. I basically shot the entire session bouncing on my tip-toes in excitement.
Abbie and Kyle will be married at Cameron Estate Inn in Mount Joy, PA in May 2021 and I cannot wait to meet all of their family and friends. It’s going to be a very special day.
