A Purple and Grey Fall Wedding at Melhorn Manor | Nichole + Wills 11.01.19

A gust of wind hit him in the face. The temperature outside had dipped below a comfortable threshold. He didn’t seem to notice. His fingers grasped the cold metal barn door handle. His gaze was down and focused. Wills’s bride was behind this door. The rest of the world melted away as he heaved it open to reveal Nichole. In that moment when he lifted his eyes to meet hers, time stopped and every anxiety was swept away with the wind. He stepped into the warmth of the barn. An orange glow of warmth swirled around their embrace enhanced by Nichole’s delighted laughter. There would be no tears for them, only joy and excitement.

After a few photos, I closed the doors between us and allowed them a few moments to truly be alone together to enjoy the last few moments of their engagement. In 2 hours, they would be man and wife.Nichole and Wills had planned and hoped to wed in the outdoor space at Melhorn Manor but the temperatures and wind prevailed and the decision was made even before I arrived. A wise choice as none of us were prepared for the drastic change in temperatures from the unseasonal warmth the day before. Guests casually chatted in the heated tobacco barn where Nichole and Wills would soon be married. A full house of over 200 smiling guests filled the main barn during their reception and every single guest participated in the biggest sparkler sendoff I have ever done. From the crazy bridal party entrances to cake cutting with a legitimate sword, it was a day of joy and laughter. And, if you know Nichole, she did 99% of the laughing herself! The way she laughs with her whole being makes her such a delight to be around. Its obviously a big part of what draws Wills to her. Their fates were aligned by teaching positions forever changing the trajectory of their lives. It’s funny how some small change can ultimately change everything.

Nichole and Wills, I knew I liked you from the moment we met. Nichole, I will always admire the way you stand up for what you want and believe in…and I know you believed in Wills and fought for him from the start of your relationship. Wills, I love how you appreciate every bit of Nichole. You celebrate everything from her beauty to her stubbornness. For both of you, your willingness to have a goal in mind but to laugh your way to it will serve you well through the years. Your wedding day was perfect but, as you know, life can never be perfect forever and I know you two have what it takes to get through it together. I was so honored to be there with you capturing the best day of your life and I hope you love this sample of photos I selected to tell the story of your wedding day. And, because I know how hard it is to wait, there is a surprise waiting in your inbox RIGHT NOW, so go check!!!! XO – Megan
