A Fall Burgundy and Yellow Wedding at The Barn at Stoneybrooke | Jacy + Nicholas 10.18.19

It was time for the Father-Daughter dance. I found myself weaving through a sea of buzzing people to find Joe and Stacey to let them know they should make their way to the dance floor. I tapped Joe on the shoulder and shouted into his ear over the music, “It’s time for you to dance with your daughter!” And, for some reason I felt compelled to tell him that the speech he made earlier that evening brought me to tears. It was at the moment after he talked about how difficult it was to give his daughter away and his hopes that one day they would have a daughter of their own to throw a wedding for when he turned to Nick and told him to remember that through it all, “That’s still my princess you have there. Take good care of her,” that I lost it and had tears streaming down my cheeks.

Not long ago, Joe and Stacey endured a hardship many of us never truly think of as a possibility…a house fire. They lost everything. He said, “You know, I’ve just been so sick of crying. I feel like I’ve been crying ever since the fire. But tonight, my tears were finally tears of joy and I’m just so happy.”To expand on that story, last fall, I held a “Free Portrait Event” where me, The Barn at Stoneybrooke, Caroline’s Rentals and Pearls and Petals donated our services to our community. It was held at The Barn at Stoneybrooke. Caroline’s Rentals and Pearls and Petals decorated and I took pictures for anyone who showed up for FREE. I believe that everyone should have a family portrait to hang proudly on their wall to look at to remind them of how much they love each other…especially on hard days. I know not everyone can afford a portrait session with me so this was my way of giving back last year. Jacy and her family got together in secret to come to the event to have pictures taken for her parents so that they could have some new photos for their home after the fire. How thoughtful was that!?!?!?! So, when it came time for Jacy and Nick’s wedding this past weekend, I think we were all a little bit extra emotionally charged for it. When something tragic happens to us, like losing everything in a fire, while awful, it can help us to see more clearly what is most important in our lives. Stacey and Joe and Nick’s parents, Fran and Mike, are perfect examples of what a marriage should look like years down the pike. I wish I had more time to chat with them at the wedding to ask them their secrets but they most definitely have their priorities straight whether enduring a fire made it that way or not. It was so refreshing to see them look into each other’s eyes after so many years of marriage with genuine love and respect for each other. I know Jacy and Nick 100% are aware of just how lucky they are to have them as their role models. Their parents started a legacy of love that Jacy and Nick will get to continue to pass on to their children one day.

The wedding day itself was the epitome of perfection. Everything went exactly as planned. Jacey looked like a real life princess (my daughter thought so too when she saw a picture of Jacy getting ready). Nick got the kiss just right (well done Nick!). The centerpieces, decor and sweetheart table were out of this world and the food was exquisite. There was even live music….amazing!!!

Jacy and Nick, thank you for putting your trust in all of us to make your dream day a reality. You had a dream team of vendors for your beautiful wedding day. I have loved working with you over the past year and I can’t wait to see where life takes you all. Please stay in touch and thank you for the Maroon hat idea….I’ve got to find an excuse to wear mine again! I hope you enjoy this sample of my favorite photos to tell the story of your day. And, because I know how hard it is to wait, there is a surprise in your inbox RIGHT NOW so go check! XO - Megan
