A Purple Fall Wedding at The Barn at Stoneybrooke | Jaclyn + Michael 11.02.19

In an age where the details we tend to think of for weddings are color pallets and the correct combination of florals and sparkly shoes, the details of Jaclyn and Michael’s day were predominantly focused on pieces of wedding dresses from the other women in the family, family heirlooms and the FAMILY piece of the meaning behind a wedding day. It was the joining of lives individually between the bride and groom, the families as a whole and also the traditions passed down from generation-to-generation.

As Phyllis fastened the last of the memories inside Jaclyn’s wedding dress, my heart swelled in appreciation for her bringing the importance back where it belongs in my heart….with the family. It’s family who raises us and family who we stand by throughout our lives. While we make our family and tribe who we want them to be and families come in all different shapes and sizes, once formed, our family members press indelible marks into our hearts and they become part of us forever whether they are still standing beside us or looking down on us. They are the most important part of the day. Not the dress. Not the jewelry. Not the flowers. While those things are REALLY nice and I LOVE photographing them, they are just a bonus. It’s your family’s smiles that I love capturing the most. (Even when the family formal list is 4X bigger than what is doable in the family photo part of the day….😂😂😂Phyllis, I love you!)

The family theme lived on throughout the entire day. From bridesmaids and groomsmen Jaclyn nannied herself from infancy to sweet dances by grandparents still desperately in love, it was a family affair. The food was incredible and the music kept us all dancing all night. It was such a special day for such special people.Jaclyn and Michael, you were a dream to work with. The way you laugh together and yet still talk about the big, important things together shows what a strong relationship you have. I still remember your email from over a year ago apologizing for not getting back to me right away and that Michael had been in-between jobs. When he talked about that difficult time in his life and how you supported him though it without question, I was in tears along with the rest of the guests. And, look at you both now!!!! That’s life! The only certainly is that everything will change in time. Appreciating and celebrating all of the little moments…the in-between gems of joy…that’s what it’s all about. Love you two. And Jaclyn, I hope you finally let Michael put on a pair of cowboy boots! Enjoy this sample of photos from your lovely wedding day. And, because I know how hard it is to wait, there is a surprise waiting for you in your inbox RIGHT NOW! SO, go check!!! XO – Megan
