Jaclyn + Mike’s October Longwood Gardens Engagement Session

“Don’t take on too much. The things that you decide to do, do them right.” This was Jaclyn’s wise answer to my question, “How do you do it? Kindergarten must be such a hard age to teach!” I think her answer applies to life in general. Many of us take on too much. There are so many expectations for involvement in our communities. Social media adds to it all. Now, don’t get me wrong, community is an AMAZING thing that I LOVE but when we spread ourselves so thin trying to do it all, Jaclyn’s comment starts to have more meaning. Decide what is important to you and do those thing….do them well.

For Jaclyn, Mike, her students, family and friends are those things and she does them incredibly well. She and Mike joked around often about how her students come first above everyone else. A funny answer but the real truth is that Mike is her everything. They know how to laugh together, and in my opinion, the couple that can laugh together can make it through anything.

My favorite photos of them were when Mike wrapped her up in his arms. It was chilly so I’m sure it felt warm. Jaclyn would close her eyes and take a deep, relaxing breath reflexively (snap, snap, snap). Then, one of them would start giggling as they tried to hold the pose (snap, snap, snap)….outright belly laughing (snap, snap, snap)…..perfect. I never had to try to get them to smile or laugh. Their session was fabulous. I had never done a session at Longwood Gardens that didn’t have the throngs of people as a challenge. I was able to get sweeping views and shots that simply are impossible to get most of the year. I had a field day. If you know me, you can just picture me bouncing up and down, skipping around exclaiming, “Oh my gosh, we can shoot here, and HERE , and HERE!!!!!”Jaclyn and Mike, I had a BLAST with you two. Great location choice, especially mid-week rather than a weekend. I’m so excited for your The Barn at Stoneybrooke wedding in 371days!!! I hope you enjoy this sample of my favorite photos from your engagement session. The full gallery will be along in your inbox in a few weeks. Until then, because I know how hard it is to wait to post a few, check your inbox RIGHT NOW for a few surprises!
