Caroline’s Rentals’ Autumn Orchard Styled Shoot

Carolines-Rentals-36.jpg

I was recently asked, “What is a styled shoot anyway?” Well, if you are wondering the same thing, I thought I would answer that question for you. You’re welcome.

A styled shoot is a collaborative effort between a variety of vendors who come together to produce a mock wedding, photo session, or event showcasing their best work captured by a chosen photographer (or many times it is the photographer putting it together). It is a chance for them to let their creative juices flow and work at the level of their ideal wedding/session/event. It can be an attempt to build a portfolio, a chance to work with people they may not have before, or simply a creative outlet in an industry where creative people are oftentimes limited by their client’s needs, wants or budgets. Most of the time it is a combination of those things. The idea though is that everyone brings their best and everyone benefits. Last week’s shoot was no exception.

We had thirteen vendors come together for this amazing styled shoot. Lindsay from Caroline’s Rentals was the mastermind and coordinator behind it all. When she contacted me to shoot it, it was an easy yes. Lindsay made all of the planning appear effortless behind the scenes even though it was a behemoth shoot to balance. But the best part was watching the whole thing come together. When everyone showed up to put it all together, all the pieces just fell together seamlessly. What a team!

The only bump in the road was the weather. Rain was in the forecast until the last moment. Alternate locations were considered and planned, original locations were changed. It rained a tiny bit at the very beginning of the shoot and then we had a huge dry break to finish shooting everything before the storm looming in the distance rolled in. The storm cost us about 30 minutes of shooting time, which is HUGE in my world. I can shoot hundreds of images in 30 minutes but I got it all and we got everything packed up and everyone out just as the skies darkened, and the storm engulfed us. It rained so hard it took me an hour to get home. Well worth it!

I would like to extend each and every person involved in this amazing shoot a special thank you for putting their hearts, souls and businesses into it. Everyone gave 110% and it showed in the end. Thank you for entrusting me with capturing all of your hard work. I am incredibly honored. And, while I typically display the images first, today, I am going to list the very talented vendors before the photos. I tip my hat to you.
