A Crisp, Fall Wedding at The Barn at Stoneybrooke for Lacey and Nate
There was pampering, flowers, vows. There was dancing, laughter, family, friends. There was catered BBQ and homemade rice and beans! Oh. My Word. SO GOOD. (I swear I’m not in it just for the food. 😄)
Family sums up the theme of this “finally Fall,” October wedding. Family and friends gathered from near and very far to celebrate the marriage of Lacey and Nate. The cool tones of the girl’s dresses complimented the sudden change in weather on their day. The chilly air was a refreshing change from the drudgery of hot, sticky days of recent weeks.
Lacey was a picturesque bride. She lit up every room she entered with her beautiful smile. Her kindness was sincere and she truly enjoyed her wedding day to the fullest. I told Lacey after taking Nate’s individual photos that he had his “big smile” on for her. She knew exactly what I meant. It’s his true smile. The one that is all teeth and so full of joy. He had this calm, joyful poise and energy that just radiated from him all day. As his brother said in his speech, Nate is the kind of guy that everyone wants to be around and get to know. He’s the kind of guy that girls like and guys want to be like. He and Lacey are a perfect match. When Nate saw his bride coming down the aisle to marry him, I heard him take in a sharp breath and turned to see his smile spread across his face. Every moment of anxious anticipation melted away and there she was. The one. His true love.
Their ceremony was quick. And the party commenced. Lacey’s dad asking permission from her husband to dance with his daughter put me over the edge. I had a moment. It’s usually the Mother-Son dance that gets me but this time is was watching all 7’ of Dave wrap up his only daughter in his arms with such tender love. Oh geez, I’m starting again. Ok so moving on. Dancing. Oh, the dancing. Nate’s family certainly wasn’t shy on the dance floor and his mom left everyone in the dust. It was an amazing day I am incredibly grateful to have witnessed and captured it.
It’s a special job being a wedding photographer. We get to see all of those special moments. The little things all day that bring it all together. When I started doing this I wondered if it would ever get old for me. I can honestly say, I’m becoming even more of a sap with each and every wedding I photograph. Maybe it is that my own children are getting older and I can start to picture myself dancing with them at their weddings or that I finally found true love in my life. Maybe it is having older kids and younger kids to really know how quickly time flies that makes it so much more emotional. Whatever the case, I think I can safely say that it will never get old and I do truly love each and every one of my couples.
Lacey and Nate, thank you for allowing me to be a part of your beautiful day. You have a special relationship that is grounded in love and respect. The cards you wrote each other speak volumes. I hope you regularly re-read them, look at your photos and remember how you felt about each other on your wedding day. When times get tough they will serve as a visual reminder of how it all started and who you were when your lives together began. I hope you enjoy this sample of photos from your special day. Your full gallery will be in your inbox in a few weeks. But, for now, there are a few surprises waiting for you in there. So, when you get a chance in-between sipping drinks in Jamaica, go check your email!!!!!
