Karlyn + Cody's Ethereal Lancaster County Engagement Session

They weren’t officially engaged when Karlyn filled out the contact form on my website. Karlyn said, “it’s a very long, very good story…” Plus, their wedding day was right around the corner in June at Historic Ashland! This definitely wasn’t a typical situation but I love Historic Ashland and was amazingly available and intrigued. I had to hear this story! Plus, it seemed like Karlyn had as much bubbly energy as I do so we connected right away. When I met them in person and saw the way Cody looked at Karlyn, I knew I was the photographer for them as long as they liked my wedding collection.

Karlyn and Cody met at church and their deep faith and pure hearts pulled them together. She noticed his eyes from across the room. They knew they were heading for wedding bells right away and started planning their wedding soon after their first date even though Cody hadn’t officially popped the question! He did it right…it was a fairy tale story in the woods, with decorations, candles,…..and a big party with all of their friends and family at the end. He even hired a photographer to capture it. (Way to go Cody!!!!) It was exquisitely planned and executed with help from many family members and friends.

Their engagement shoot with me was the essence of perfection. They dressed to the nines with tulle skirt for sunset and all. I got goosebumps when they appeared around the corner after changing into their second outfit. Knowing the location, the light at that moment and how they looked, I knew it was going to be epic….like super epic. Karlyn giggled for about 99.9% of the session making for the most joyful, fantastic session ever. I never once had to tell them to smile. As is pretty typical of most men, Cody would admit that he wasn’t exactly looking forward to having pictures taken for 2 hours but by the end even he said himself that he was having fun. They danced in the woods, kissed on top of the world (it seemed) and giggled like school children as we parked in a construction site, dashed across the busy road to take photos in a wheat field that was being harvested as we took photos. WORTH IT!!!! I’m pretty much in love with their photos. We lucked out with the weather but everything else was due to: 1. Amazing wardrobe and 2. Amazing love for each other.

Karlyn and Cody, you nailed your shoot and your photos show it. They also, I think, are a beautiful visual representation of the love you have for each other in this very short season of your lives together. Your grandkids are going to look at these photos one day and say, “Look how joyful and in love Grandma and Grandpa were then….and they still are. I want that too!” You two have started your legacy of love and it’s a beautiful thing. I love you guys!!! I hope you enjoy this sample of photos from your session Friday. Your full gallery will be in your inbox soon! 27 days until you are married!!!!

XO - Megan
