A Rainy, Fall Wedding at The Barn at Stoneybrooke | Kerri + Michael 10.16.20

Kerri + Michael Engaged-151.jpg

“My dad is going to be my best man,” Mike told me during their engagement session. He explained just how much his dad meant to him. It speaks volumes about Mike himself but also right back at his dad. When Bruce approached the microphone for the best man speech, all the guys cupped their hands over their mouths and gave a low “Bruuuuuuuuuuuce” stadium style in unison when a favorite player takes the field. I can only imagine the effect he has had on that group of men over the course of their lives. Bruce stood confident. Proud. Proud of his son. Proud of this day and confident in his son’s decision to marry Kerri. He spoke with clarity and took his time capturing the attention of all in attendance. You could hear a pin drop. I had not met Bruce before this day but it was immediately apparent that he is the type of person we all admire and look up to. I should have asked what he does for a living. I hope it has some element of public speaking. If not, the world is missing out on this talent.

Kerri’s dad, just as proud and confident spoke directly to his daughter for the majority of his speech. “Remember sky diving Kerr? Remember” Kerri tearing up, nodding her head. This dad gave away his little girl this day and filled the room with emotion and sentiment. The air swirled with joy, gratitude, and hope for the future.

This day, as per 2020 style, did not go as planned. There was rain and storms in the forecast and while it was not a heavy rain, the threat decided the fate of Kerri and Michael’s ceremony for them. It would be held indoors and all the bridal party photos took place in the doorway to the barn to keep everyone dry, rushing so that catering could finish setting the tables. When I talked to Mike after the first look and before the ceremony, he expressed his great desire to go outside for husband and wife portraits IF AT ALL POSSIBLE during the evening, even if it meant during the reception….dinner…whatever it took. That was music to my ears and we 100% lucked out that the rain cleared completely right after the ceremony and we were able to complete ALL their husband and wife photos outside on the grounds of the fabulous The Barn at Stoneybrooke with stunning fall foliage in the distant hills. It was the redemption of the day for sure. We used every possible moment possible to make their wedding photo dreams come true.

Kerri and Mike, were to begin with you two?! Kerri, your sweet, fun, loving heart draws everyone to you. You hold yourself with the poise of a princess but know how to party with the guys. Mike, the way you look at her and really see her for the gem she is…you truly see people.  I can’t wait for you to scroll through the photos to see your reaction to seeing her for the first time during your first look. It was quite possibly the best I’ve seen and so genuine. Your love for all you surround yourself with just makes us all want to know you and be around you more. You truly know how to make others feel comfortable and seen. That is a gift that will continue to give and give back to you your whole life. Thank you both for trusting me with this most important of days in your life. I am so happy you two were able to get married this year amongst all the craziness that was 2020. It was a wonderful day and I can’t wait to see all the adventures that await you in the future. Enjoy the time with your friends in your “2020 house.” Those stories will be even better than college stories. Cherish every moment. Ugh! I could go on and on but I’ll stop myself here. I hope you love this sample of photos from your The Barn at Stoneybrooke wedding. And, because I know how hard it is to wait, there is a surprise waiting for you in your inbox RIGHT NOW if you haven’t already seen.

XO – Megan
