A Golden, Summer Engagement Session at The Barn at Stoneybrooke | Jennifer + Matthew

It used to be only a small percentage of my couples who I didn’t meet in person before their engagement session because they were out of state like Jennifer and Matthew who flew in from Texas for their session. Now, it seems part of this whole “new normal” that everyone is buzzing about.

Even though we hadn’t met in person, I’ve been following Jennifer and Matthew on Instagram ever since they booked with me for their spring wedding at The Barn at Stoneybrooke next year and have been oooooohing and ahhhhing over their brand new Petite Goldendoodle puppy, Charlie ever since they brought him home. Never in a million years did I think I would get to meet him. Jennifer told me Charlie is quite attached to them (Matthew in particular) because of never being separated because of quarantine. So, how could they leave him for their trip to PA? He wasn’t supposed to be the focus of their session but man was it difficult with those puppy eyes and his little puppy whimpering any time we were only a few yards away from him. Every time they hear his little yelp, they would turn and look just like new parents. It was adorable. Almost as adorable as they were together.

Jennifer and Matthew decided to use their immaculately landscaped wedding venue, The Barn at Stoneybrooke, as the backdrop for their steamy, summer engagement session. We had a gorgeous golden glow from full sunlight to compliment Jenn’s first, golden gown and second, blush and blue gown (both with all the flow I could wish for); contrasted wonderfully by Matthew’s crisp, clean navy looks.

They love to laugh and play but I also picked up on a bit of protectiveness in Matthew for Jennifer. He was always there supporting her and checking on how she was doing. Jennifer is sweet and caring with a smile I could photograph ALL DAY LONG. They are a fabulous pair and I can’t wait to meet the rest of their friends and family (Hi Becky! Thank you for coming to pup-sit for Charlie while his parents got their pictures taken!). If the rest of their family is anything like them, it’s going to be a splendid wedding day.

Jenn and Matt, thank you for your willingness to reschedule your trip to PA due to COVID restrictions. I can’t believe how easy it was to fit you right back in. This day and this session was mean to be. You glowed with joy and I’m so happy to be your wedding photographer. I wish I didn’t have to wait a whole year to see you again! I’ll be sure to be following along to watch Charlie grow. I hope you LOVE this sample of my favorites from your golden, summer engagement session and because I know how hard it is to wait, there are a few surprises in your inbox RIGHT NOW, so go check! XO – Megan
