A Touch of Autumn | Carly + Sam’s Splendid Wolf’s Hollow County Park Engagement Session

Carly + Sam Engaged-12.jpg

Every shoot is special and different but some just stand out for one reason or another. It’s not always the location or the couple’s particular love story. Sometimes it just IS. I’ve been contemplating all morning what made this engagement session so ‘stand out’ to me and I’ve determined that it was a combination of things all rolled into one fabulous experience:

1.      They came all the way from New York City. They didn’t do the drive all in one go, stopping at Carly’s parents house in Bucks County, but it was a serious commitment of time and energy to come that far so that I didn’t have to travel the whole way to them. That meant a lot to me.

2.      Carly made the decision to book with me from avidly following along rather than needing to meet in person and drill me with questions or test me in some way. She already knew she wanted to book with me when she contacted me. I literally sent her one email and that was it…they were family. I so appreciated her decisiveness and thoroughness for having done her research ahead rather than relying on me to present it to her (which is fine! I was just impressed). During the session she directly quoted from my blog posts and had obviously read my entire Engagement Session Guide for Success and considered every detail.

3.      Because they considered every detail, I was able to do EVERYTHING with them which is always fun for me.

4.      They chose a location I was familiar with so that they knew I would be comfortable shooting there. Of course, they choose one THEY LOVED too.

5.      They were early. I LOVE early people. They even arrived before I did which has only happened one other time. I left with an ETA to arrive 45 minutes early and encountered an accident along the way with a coinciding detour that put me at the location only 20 minutes early….cutting it close in my book. They were already there and dressed, putting on final touches as I got my gear out.

6.      This one is personal but will cement this shoot in my mind forever: it was the first session my son, Isaac, came to assist for….his first job….my first employee. He took behind the scenes video and even second shot behind the scenes and some of Carly and Sam. Some of his photos are even in this gallery! I am GUSHING with pride in that fact. This will be the first of many sessions he comes along to but this will always be the first.

7.      They are fantastic people. I could have talked with them for hours and was a little sad when it was time to say goodbye for now. I still have about 1,0000 questions I wanted to ask them. It’s my turn to follow THEM and get to know them even better…which is a part of my job that I adore.

Carly and Sam, I am so happy for you. I love that you have taken your time with your relationship but are so inseparable at the same time. It shows the building blocks of a solid future marriage. I loved hearing about Sam’s interest in photography and that Carly would go along to “carry stuff” just to be there with him….ahhhhhh. Showing interest in each other’s interests just because….so good. I can’t wait for you two to tie the knot finally at The Barn at Stoneybrooke in 2022. Your wedding day is going to be one amazing celebration of your love and the joining of your families. I can’t wait to meet everyone!

I hope you love this sample of my favorites from your gorgeous Wolf’s Hollow engagement session yesterday. And, because I know how hard it is to wait, there is a surprise in your inbox RIGHT NOW so go check! XO - Megan
