Summer in Marietta | Alexis + Corey’s Engagement Session | July 31, 2021

When it came time to entrust others to complete certain tasks for my business, you might understand that it was hard to let go. I mean, I built this thing from the ground up with a Nikon D5100, one battery and one memory card to call my assets.

I’ll be honest, of all the tasks to hand off, booking new clients was both the hardest and the biggest relief to give to someone else…even someone I trusted. It takes time to get to know a couple and feel out if they will be a good fit for our team…and I loved doing it. The problem was that inquires come in 100% unexpectedly and usually at the worst time possible (you wouldn’t believe how many injuries I get on a Saturday morning as I walk out the door for a wedding).

It was incredibly stressful to both focus on the wedding or portrait session at hand, giving the clients my complete focus while also trying to cater to new faces…send them timely information, follow up, meet together and send the needed paperwork. Other photogs, I’m sure you can relate!

My biggest fear was that when I would meet the clients at the engagement session I wouldn’t feel the same connection to them that I used to from back in the day when I would sit down with potential new clients in person over a cup of coffee and my laptop to now at least having a video call to feel out personalities. I was worried I wouldn’t have the same spark at the sessions. The spark is really important to me.

Well, over the past few months I’ve come to learn that human connection happens when its going to happen whether it be in the meeting or at the engagement session or even on social media in the interim…and Alexis was a perfect example. Being an operating room nurse herself (and the sweetest soul) she has been reaching out regularly on social and via email to show her support and love through my health news. When we met in Marietta on Saturday, it was like seeing an old friend and starting where we left off.

She’s the best. Corey certainly knows what he has and it’s obvious by the way they move together and look at each other that they are so very much in love. High school sweethearts since sophomore year, these two are still head-over-heels after all these years. I adore them.

They will be married at The Barn at Stoneybrooke in Atglen, PA in September 2022 and I cannot wait to meet all of their people…especially Alexis’s mom…I know where Alexis get’s it!

Alexis and Corey, you did not disappoint! My goodness I love you two!!! Your session makes me smile from ear-to-ear just scrolling through the images. I hope you love this little sample of my favorites as much as I do! And, because I know how hard it is to wait, there will be a surprise in your inbox later today so don’t forget to check!

XO - Megan
