A Fall Family Session in the Fields | Albright Family | October 7, 2022

There are many people who stake a claim to Theresa being some very important role in their lives. Colin, of course, can easily make this argument as her husband. I once witnessed him sitting quietly at a table at a wedding I was shooting before they were married. They were guests. I said, “Colin, why aren’t you dancing?!” He shrugged his shoulders and replied, “I need Theresa…”

Theresa has more close friends at her young age than I’ve ever had in my entire life and somehow she carves out time for and makes each one feel so very special. Loving her people and helping them have fun is her superpower.

For me, Theresa is my angel.

When she asked me to sit down to talk about her desire to get into the wedding industry early in 2021, I was hesitant. But, we ended with a hug over a tentative agreement that she would start as my assistant. I thought the relief from my overworked state was why she was this new, important role in my life. Even though she was a client who’s wedding I still had yet to shoot that year, with 30 weddings ahead of me, she just what I needed. She was like an angel in my life. Some people believe in God. Some people believe in the universe and other powers that shape our lives. Whatever you believe, it was obvious to me that Theresa was sent as a gift…and I am so grateful.

Working with her for only a few months, she took on her new role as my assistant and Client Services Coordinator at Megan Hoffer Photography with zeal and excitement. She was amazing! She could answer client questions and get them through the booking process so much faster than I ever could in the middle of shooting wedding after wedding and portrait session after portrait session, flying here and there across the country. She was the answer to all of my stress. Life was good.

Then, I got the news that made my world begin to swirl and quake….possible cancer and a certain “radical” surgery. 18 weddings left for the year and I wasn’t sure if I would be allowed to finish them. While my family and I turned inward to figure it all out, Theresa was there to hold me steady and help me through it. Her own wedding teetered in the balance and her demeanor never once broke from support and understanding. She stood by as I temporarily closed my doors to new bookings with the future unknown. She was what kept things running behind the scenes while I waded through the most uncertain year of my life.

Without Theresa, my business would not be here today. Grateful doesn’t quite seem to cover it.

For those of you who have had the pleasure of working with her as a client and those of you who know her personally, you know just what I mean when I say — Theresa is special.

Colin, you’re pretty great too. :-) Thank you for allowing her to take so much of her “off time” working for, hanging out with, and supporting me. You also rock. ❤️

We were able to make their first family session half lifestyle session on their normal walking route with their sweet, crazy pup, Bo, and half portrait session in the gorgeous Lancaster county farmland surrounding their home. We had exactly the lighting we needed to make this spot happen. Whether you believe in Karma, or The Man Upstairs, this was definitely some kind of small reward for them for being so great.

Theresa and Colin, I love you two so much. I’m sorry I never got to blog your wedding last year in the thick of things. I hope this makes up for it a little. I also hope you know just how much you mean to me and how much I appreciate everything you do for me to make my life possible. My kids and husband also thank you for giving them back more time with me. I finally feel like I’m balancing everything most days and have you to thank for that.

Please enjoy this little sample of photos from your lovely lifestyle session with BoBo yesterday. And, because I know how hard it is to start posting, there will be a surprise in your inbox later today. So, don’t forget to check!

Xo - Megan

P.S. Blood is really hard to edit off teeth…thanks Bo. 😑 I hope it healed up quickly!
