Mark’s mom, Jeanne, stood in the Stone Manor Country Club ballroom holding the microphone. She calmly addressed the crowd. Her beautiful face was alight with joy. She began to speak, “It was a Fall evening 11 years ago much like this one…a little drier (she giggled along with the crowd). Mark came home and had this look on his face. He looked at me and said, “Mom, I met a girl. She has the best laugh.”

Abby’s infectious laugh was brought up more than once in speeches that evening and for good reason. She is joyful. She is sweet. She is Mark’s best friend. Mark is a stoic fellow at first meet. He is discerning and kind but as I have gotten to know him better over the past year, I have learned that above all else, he is a protector. He looks out for others….Abby, his mother, his sister Marisa and all of his friends. He would do anything for them. Abby and Mark are a special pair and their wedding day was a toast to that fact. Every detail was expertly planned and executed from the lantern floral centerpieces to the rose baubles dangling from the ceremony site. The weather was perfection until the moment every guest was tucked under the safety of the patio for cocktail hour. They say it’s luck if it rains on your wedding day…..well, they have a lot of luck! It POURED for 45 minutes straight. Luckily, we had already completed a full set of portraits during their first look so we didn’t feel pressured to go back out into the wet grass for more. The rain stopped just in time to complete family portraits on the beautiful patio before getting the party started. It was such a fun day.

Abby and Mark, I can’t thank you enough for inviting me to be a part of your wedding day. It’s people like you who leave everyone you meet with these indelible marks that affect us for the rest of our lives. You are caring. You are fun. You know how to throw a party! But, above all else, you know how to put your hearts out there and care for others. I know your parents, living and looking on, are so proud of you. I’m so happy you have each other and your loving families. You are so blessed and I’m excited to see where life take you together.
