Turnow + Shultz Historic Ashland Summer Wedding

Community and prayer were the common themes of the day for Karlyn and Cody’s wedding day. During each part of the day there was someone praying over Karlyn and/or Cody. Friends, family, church community, everyone! I’ve seen many a wedding day timeline fall behind for one reason or another, lost or forgotten item, hair/makeup took longer than expected, someone was caught in traffic but never because of more prayer than expected. It was BEAUTIFUL! To these amazing people, prayer and remembering the why behind EVERYTHING was more important. It was more important to Karlyn and Cody to get married in their church even though they knew the lighting wasn’t ideal for photos and that meant travel time. It was more important to have Dave talk from his heart for 25 minutes before giving his daughter away to be married than getting to the reception on time. It was all a great reminder to always keep in mind our “whys” of doing what we are doing in every moment of our lives.

During Dave’s 25 minutes speech at the very beginning of the ceremony, he told a story of reading the bible together with his wife, Karlisa, in bed with Karlyn and her sister, Kayla. And, just like marriage and life, it wasn’t always picture perfect. At one point he painted the picture of Karlyn waving her arms in the air as she perched, attempting to balance, on the footboard of the bed while he was trying to read. He said it didn’t end well but what he could have followed up with was that even if she did fall, they were there to pick her up, comfort her and make it better just like family is supposed to. Now, Cody will also be there for her and she for him for the rest of their lives making special moments, comforting, making it better when it’s not.

Having such a great working relationship with Historic Ashland allowed me to work very closely with all of the vendors involved to deliver a fantastic wedding experience for the whole wedding party and guests. We sang, ate, danced, prayed…I may have taken just a few pictures 🤣It was wonderful. I would like to give a HUGE thank you to Tim Cramer of TNT Productions for working SO closely with me and wiggling around the entire reception timeline so that I could get pictures of all the important events before my end-time. And, an even bigger thank you to Leah of Historic Ashland for not rushing us when it was portrait time. Those photos are the ones that will be passed down from generation to generation….they are the priceless piece of the day. 🙏Karlyn and Cody, I knew from the moment we met at Starbucks and I heard your story that we were the perfect match. It has been an honor to get to know you and your family and friends. I am so happy for you both. What a wonderful couple you are. You complement each other so well. I hope you enjoy this sample of photos from your wedding day. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!
