“It won’t be a traditional wedding day,” Jenny told me at their engagement shoot at Longwood Gardens in February. At the time, they weren’t planning on hiring us as their wedding photography team. “A small gathering….only close family and friends for the small ceremony and an informal gathering to follow.” As planning went along though, they kept coming back to the importance of their engagement photos….and obviously changed their minds. I think we are all glad they did.

It’s true, this day was not traditional in many ways. In many others though, it most definitely was. There was love, commitment, loved ones, fun and delicious food. At the end of the day, that is the essence of any wedding day, don’t you think?

Capturing the essence and emotion of this day and telling it’s story was a true honor. Cameron and Jenny have the biggest hearts and the kindest souls of anyone I’ve met. We had to continually remind Jenny that she didn’t need to keep checking on how everyone was doing on her wedding day. It just goes to show who she really is at her core. It’s easy to see why they both have so many amazing friends to celebrate their commitment to each other with.

Being only the second wedding ever held at Bortner Valley, I’d say they’re starting off on a great foot! The modernized house paired with an expansive, beautifully landscaped property and progressive plans for the future are sure to make it a new hot spot for weddings in the future. Jenny and Cameron will always remain special to them being one of their first weddings.

Jenny and Cameron, I’m incredibly grateful to have been able to stand with you as you made the ultimate commitment to each other. Your day was so beautifully YOU. It was fun to see all the planning come together in the end.
