She calls me Meg.

For all of my *almost* 40 years, only my mom, dad, sister and grandma have called me Meg. It’s my family nick name. I’m not quite sure how I would feel about too many other people calling me Meg but after meeting Caitlin and Steven at their engagement session at The Barn at Stoneybrooke last year, they honestly could fit right in with my family so it has always just felt right. I know I’m not alone in that sentiment. They are some of the kindest, big-hearted people I have ever met. They are poised and caring to a point not many can even comprehend.

Everything about meeting and working with them has been easy and natural. From their first contact to the end of the night on their wedding day, it has been a natural flow of effortless perfection.

My favorite part of their big day on Sunday was their private vows after their first look. They chose to read their vows to each other privately outside under the most beautiful wise, old tree. A sweet breeze blew in the heat of the May afternoon sun. It wiped away their tears of joy and gratitude for each other as they pronounced their love and dedication to each other for the rest of their lives.

It doesn’t get much better than that. It’s moments like this that make me really step back and realized just how privileged I am to get to witness these private moments….that my clients trust me enough to invite me into this space of openness, vulnerability and raw emotion.

It’s from this place that #ifyourehereyourefamily was born. I love my fam and, yes, ya’ll can call me Meg too.

Wowza! Your day was astoundingly beautiful. We had so much fun with you. Steve, I hope we were quick enough for you with your portraits with the guys but I have to admit I smiled a secret little “winning” smile to myself when you whole-heartedly agreed to sunset photos on your day. As you will see below, it was a good choice. Thanks for trusting me with these moments of your time on your most special day ever. I love you guys!
