Sara + Kyle’s Rainbow Blessed Lauxmont Farms Wedding
8.3.19
I almost always start my day with the girls. The squealing. The joy. The hair and makeup. Everyone is excited and Sara’s #girlsquad did not disappoint. I walked into the room to see floor to ceiling mirrors, checkerboard marble floors and smiles that could light up the darkest of days. These girls were incredibly sweet and were lucky enough to be pampered by the amazing team at Hair and Makeup by Nikiki D and Shades of Blush Studios. The result….oh my. You’ll see. For the day, the royal blue sky was dotted with cottony puffball clouds overlooking the Susquehanna River at Lauxmont Farms Rotunda. It was supposed to be overcast and rain…so I had prepared for clouds and rain. Sara and Kyle’s hilltop Lauxmont Farms wedding was planned out to a T in my mind. The first look would be here. The portraits would be taken over there. We would place the decorative couch from Caroline’s Rentals right there angled just so. Then, just as we were about to go outside for their first look, even the puffball clouds cleared to stark blue skies. Plan out the window! It’s days like these when the unexpected pushes us that magic happens. We did their first look on a hilltop in full sun and it was stunning. The entire day was stunning.
Sara thought of every detail. The colors were a vibrant summer blend of powder blue and orange with whites and greens galore. My heart skipped a beat when I saw the details laid out for me. Her dress was…..oh my. Ruffles for miles! Sara herself is a lovely ruffled blend of funny, smart and caring with a dollop of sas that says, “I’ve been through a lot but nothing can keep me down.” She radiated only joy on her special day.
Kyle may not want to admit it but he is every bit as detail oriented as Sara. He planned out Sara’s gift months and months in advance. He knew that the one thing she wanted more than anything was a black background portrait of her horse Violet so he purchased a portrait session from me for Violet (horse) knowing I was also a “horse person.” It was done in secret with the help of Sara’s barn crew while she was on her bachelorette weekend. He had her believe there just was no way to have the portraits taken. It was the first time I have ever seen someone see the final product of my work for the first time. It was a very special moment for me personally.
In true Sara style, she walked herself down the aisle. A vision of strength and independence as she joined her beautiful life with Kyle’s in the presence of family and friends. Their ceremony was perched atop the rolling hills of Lauxmont Farms overlooking the river bathed in warm sunshine. They professed their own written vows to each other and at the end were whisked away in a horse-drawn carriage. As the forecasted clouds (finally) rolled in we took a quick set of husband and wife portraits on the hilltop just in case of later rain. And, thankfully too. During their dazzling Rotunda reception, the skies opened and it poured….and poured…..and poured. The timing couldn’t have been more perfect with all of us tucked safely in the glass lined walls of the venue. We heard some riveting speeches and, at the end, one of the most beautiful rainbows I had ever seen appeared over the river. As soon as the rain mostly cleared, we all went out for pictures. What a day! They danced the night away and all of the guests enjoyed the celebration.
Sara and Kyle, I almost can’t believe you’re married!!! It feels like we have been friends for ages and I can’t tell you how special it has been to meet you both and get to know you. You both are very special souls and you are each exactly what the other needs in this life. You are silly. You are sweet. You are caring. Your love is so evident to all who know you. I’m so glad you found each other. Your lives are going to be full of so much richness. I’m excited to see where it takes you. Give Violet a nuzzle for me when you get home. But, for now, enjoy your honeymoon, grab some wine and enjoy this sample of photos from your amazing day. And, because I know how hard it is to wait, there is a surprise waiting for you in your inbox RIGHT NOW so go check…..after honeymoon fun.
