Brittany + Brandon’s McCormick Road Engagement

“There’s this road that’s special to me…I was hoping we could take our engagement pictures there. Oh and, I was hoping to stop there along the way to the reception to take some on our wedding day.” This got me excited. Then she sent me pictures and I got even more excited. THEN I SAW IT. WHAT!?!?!?!?! It. Was. So. Beautiful. It was the road that she grew up running on. She and Brandon walk the dogs there and now I am considering driving the 50 minutes to get there every day just to fill up on the beauty and serenity of it.

Whenever a client has a specific request for a photo, I admit it makes me nervous because I worry that my vision of it and their vision of it might differ or the light might not be right for whatever they are asking for. Brittany was very open to any suggestions I had along the way and I really appreciated it. Then there was the one shot at the end…the one she really wanted. I held my breath as we parked and I asked what exactly she was thinking. Luckily, the timing was somehow just perfect so that the sun tucked behind the hill in time to make it the perfect light. 5 minutes earlier and we would have had to wait. 5 minutes later and it would have been too dark. I was still nervous about getting the photo she dreamed of. There were no second chances after the sunset.  I did the set and I knew I loved them but nervously showed her the back of my camera. She gasped and clapped her hand over her mouth. She exclaimed, Oh my gosh! It’s perfect! Big exhale from me.

I say it all the time, but I LOVE these photos so much. It reminds me of the vision of beautiful I had when I was a little girl. I still “go to the woods” to recharge. There is something about being in a sea of trees that calms my soul. It was just what I needed towards the end of a very busy wedding and fall season.

Brittany and Brandon, it was SO GREAT to meet you. I am incredibly excited for your Ski Roundtop wedding next October. It’s going to be magical. I hope you enjoy this sample of photos from your engagement session yesterday. And, because I know how hard it is to wait, there are some surprises in your inbox so GO CHECK! 😘

XO - Megan
